My first makeup course

Hey, beauties!

Last year, on 29th December I went to Lana Vallo's Makeup Studio and had my very first makeup course. I didn't learn anything totally new, but some tips were very useful. More and more I begin to think that maybe this field of business is for me... but we'll see. This workshop lasted 3,5 hours and consisted of theoretical part and practical part on myself. I met nice fellow beauty blogger there, you can read her opinion about this workshop here. (only in Estonian, sorry)
First 1,5 hours makeup artist Ksenia Ljashenko showed on the model Meriem Kimmer correct usage of products- you must take into account your skintype, undertone, texture etc when choosing products. Undertone does not change in your lifetime!
All participants got all the information on paper, but if you want to see it, you have to go by yourself - I think that I already tell you too much tips & tricks they gave us. All the products we used were by Jane Iredale and  The Balm.
I so hate my before picture - but what can I do, I don´t have anything better.

What I used and tips how to use it:
BASE:
1. The balm: timebalm face primer(silicone based) on my T-zone - you can use it on the lids too. I have combination to oily skin that means that my T-zone is quite "dewy" and my cheeks are normal.

2. Jane Iredale: Dream Tint SPF15 tinted moisturizer all over the face. Apply with fingers, blend the edges with sponge. Actually I don´t know why we did this step - yes to moisturize, but why tinted moisturizer if we use loose mineral powder anyways?

3. Jane Iredale: Active light Under-Eye concealer 04 under the eyes - Use pinkish corrector to counteract with blue undereye circles and beige if you have too pigmented undereyes(darkness). Blend with fingers, apply only on the dark circles, not all over around the eye- otherwise it will draw attention to your problem areas.

4. Jane Iredale concealer (with green/olive undertones) for any imperfections on the face (mainly small breakouts etc). Apply concealer with a small brush exactly on the breakout and then gently dab with your fingertip to blend it lightly.
5. Jane Iredale amazing base Loose mineral powder SPF 20 in Warm silk (second lightest shade in warm foundation range). I won´t say that it offers full coverage, more like light to medium.

6. Contouring: for highlight you can use a light- pearly eyeshadow, but it is better to use matte highlight and contour shades. Hard/full contouring should be used for photo/video/TV makeup only, not in daytime. Gentle contouring is very applealing for nighttime makeup.  I used Jane Iredale Pure pressed mineral foundation in coffee and light eyeshadow for highlighting.

7. Blush: The Balm Frat Boy blush/shadow- nice peachy pink blush. Loved it, going to purchase it in the future- really pigmented and smooth. This should be really close dupe for NARS Amour blush.

EYES: When applying eye makeup look straight ahead, then you will see perfectly how far you should bring the color.
1. Jane Iredale eye pencil in grey/black: line 1/2 of upper lashline and about 1/3 of lower lash line. Extend the lower eyeliner to your crease(crease is the most prominent line!). Smudge with synthetic brush. When applying eyeliner, don´t tug on your lid- you don´t want premature wrinkles, do you?

2. Jane Iredale trio in Brown sugar. I added the darkest shadow all over the moving part of the lid and applied it also on the lower lashline- extended the line about 3/4 in. Leave a little bit (about 1/4) free for lighter color.
3. For blending look straight ahead and take the same dark color or brown eyeshadow to blend the line into your crease. Do NOT bring the color on your browbone- that is part of your face, not your eyes. BUut there are exceptions - the instructor brought up my blending color a little bit higher to balance my close set and sad eyes(that means my outer corners lower a bit).

4. Add the highlight color in 1/4 of the lid. I also used whiteish loose highlighter - had small glitters in it. A trick to remove glitter- use sponge again! Also sponge is great to use to correct any mistakes you made - for instance if you bring the dark shadow too up on your eyelid.
5. Line your inner rims with waterproof black eyeliner, I used Jane Iredale Eyeliner in Basic Black. One interesting fact: there is a misconception that black will make your eyes smaller- no it won't, it only deepens your eyes for more sexy look. It will make your eyes small if you use only black liner and mascara, but for smokey eye it is perfect.
6. Curl your lashes and apply mascara. I used the balm cheater mascara- I think that it is nothing special, clumped on me a little bit. Very big brush. I think I used 2 coats.

LIPS:
1. Jane Iredale lip definer in Spice (or any other natural lip liner) - you can use natural lip liner to correct and change your lip shape a bit, don´t go overboard with making your lips bigger. I had to make my lower lip smaller and upper lip bigger to balance them out.

2. The balm Balm Shelter tinted gloss in Daddy´s girl - nice bright strawberry pink. Originally I used some nude lipgloss by the balm, but it looked too pale on my lips. In this picture I used NYX lipgloss in beige, because it took a few hours to get home and the orginal lipgloss had already worn off.

Thank you for reading and I hope you got some useful tips here. :)

In Estonian:
Teen ainult lühikokkuvõtte, toote nimetusi oskate vast ise ülevaltpoolt lugeda :) Käisin 29.detsembril Lana Vallo Meigistuudios ilumeigi koolitusel, kus 3,5 h jooksul õpetati meile näopõhja tegemist, näokuju korrigeerimist ja klassikalist suitsusilma. Kasutasime Jane Iredale´i ja The Balm´i tooteid.

Lubatud paar nippi:
2. Tumedaid-siniseid silmaaluseid ei peaks mitte varjama paksu jumestuskreemi kihiga, vaid kasutama korrektorit. Sinistele silmaalustele roosakama alatooniga korrektor ja pigmenteeritud-tumedale sailmaalusele kollakat-beeži korrektorit. Punetavatele aladele oliivi alatooniga peitekreem, mitte päris roheline! Kõikide korrektoritega kehtib reegel, et neid peaks kandma ainult probleemsele piirkonnale, mitte väga laiale alale - muidu rõhutate ainult värvierinevusi.
3. Näokuju modelleerimine ehk kontuurimine - kasutada võiks pigem matte tooteid ja kogu näo kontuurimine jätta õhtumeigi või tele-fotomeigi ajaks. Kedagi päevasel ajal nende varjudega nagunii ära ei peta. Päevameigis võib ju põski veidi kontuurida, aga nina ma j'taks rahule.
6. Huulekuju modelleerimiseks tuleb kasutada huulevärviga sobivat huulepliiatsit.

  3. This course was only 3.5 hours and regular price is 50 euros, I got it from a deals website - it was 50% off. (I think I paid 22.5€, during that time the full price was 45€). So yes, makeup courses are expensive here too.
