Review: ELF Studio blushes

Hey!
Today I am going to review ELF studio blushes, I own 5 of them, all purchased by myself from eyeslipsface.co.uk
Regular price is £ 3.50 / 4€ or lucky for US residents 3$.
You will get 0.168oz (4.75g) of product which is really cheap for nice quality blush. These have been compared to NARS blushes - the package and dupe list for shades, but I can´t confirm that nor disagree, ´cause I have not even touched one NARS blush yet. Still I did my reasearch and wrote down the dupes for each blush - it is nice to get all the information in the same place, although it is easy to read different source, too.

What it claims to do?
The soft sheer texture blends into the skin for a silky finish. Designed to be worn alone or layered for more depth. Highlight your complexion with a subtle healthy glow!

Ingredients:
Talc, Mica, Nylon-12, Magnesium Stearate, Silica, Paraffinium Liquidum (Mineral Oil), Polybutene, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Iron Oxides (CI 77491 , CI 77492 , CI 77499), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Yellow No.5 Lake (CI 19140), Red No.40 Lake (CI 16035), Ultramarine Violet (CI 77077), Blue No.1 Lake (CI 42090).

Here are my blushes from ELF Studio line. Picture is taken in daylight (used a flash to bring out sparkles).

Why are there only 4 blushes on this picture?
Because Pink Passion is older than others, ordered it in the summer, but have not really used it a lot. Yes, they do come with a mirror, but it is very tiny, so in my opinion they could easily skip that and I would still be happy. You can hardly see your eye in the mirror, that means you can´t apply your blush when looking in there.
Package design is sleek, very similar to NARS, love and hate the fact that you can see the blush through "window" -  needs better execution of the idea, because it breaks too easily - the transparent plastic in not glued properly. Also- don´t leave your blushes in the sun, I once did so and Pink Passion blush is kind or ruined- the sun changed the color a bit- thanks again to the "window".
Now onto the part you have all been waiting for, swatches - yay! Sorry in advance, I am not that great in describing colors an texture :D

First blush is Pink Passion. "Grand old lady" of my ELF blushes collection. lol. It is neon pink, only matte blush in ELF studio line as far as I know. Great for fair complexion, very pigmented, but the most powdery blush from the bunch. You have to use light hand with it if you have fair complexion, otherwise clown face guaranteed. If you want to add ore color, layering is best option.
Dupe for NARS Desire, which is slightly darker than Pink Passion.
Second blush is Fuschia Fusion: bright light pink, has slightly purple undertones.  Shimmers/glitter does not transfer very much to cheeks, so that is a plus.
Dupe for NARS Angelika - almost the same color, both are shimmery.
Yes, I spelled it right on the picture, checked the sticker and package several times - I wonder why ELF has on spelling on the package and the other on the website, but that is just me.
Third blush is Peachy Keen, peachy coral toned gold blush, works better as a highlighter. Least pigmented from the ELF blushes I own.
Dupe for  NARS Luster- both peachy blushes with gold sheen.
Fourth blush is Berry Merry, soft mauvey pink with golden shimmer, that don´t transfer to cheeks.
Dupe for NARS Sin- but Sin is more plummier and darker.
Last but not least is Blushing Rose: looks darker in the pan than on the cheeks. Another berry done, definitely more red-brown than the last one. Tried this one out and it stayed on my skin 6 hours easily (I think it would have stayed longer, but I removed it). Dupe for NARS Dolce Vita- tone is really similar, ELF is more matte on the cheeks.

All the swatches together, just to compare different colors.

In conclusion:
Pros:
Affordable
For most of them: decent to great pigmentation
Buildable
Feels light on the skin (but I don´t know how a powder product can feel heavy)
Cons:
Texture is more gritty and powdery than higher end blushes
Cheap looking package with tiny mirror
Most are shimmery or glowy - I like to control the amount of shine on my face.

Bonus: Dupe list ELF vs NARS
They are not 100% dupes, but very similar as far as I have seen on other blogs.

NARS Desire - ELF Pink Passion
NARS Angelika- ELF Fushia Fusion
NARS Lustre - ELF Peachy Keen
NARS Sin- ELF Berry Merry
NARS Dolce Vita- ELF Blushing Rose
NARS Orgasm - ELF Candid Coral
NARS Deep Throat - ELF Twinkle Pin
NARS Albatross - ELF Gotta Glow

So what do you think of ELF Studio blushes? Have you tried them? Do you know any other cheap, but good blushes?

Thank you for reading!

  1. Tänud! Väga hea postitus ja igatahes on veidi kergem tulevikus e.l.f´st põsepuna tellida.

  4. Need toonid näivad küll väga kenad. Eriti need kaks esimest roosat tooni. Pigem võrdleks Sleek'i põsekaid Nars'iga.

Sleek'i omad on minu arvates head ja ArtDeco omad ka.
