Review: Seche Vite quick dry top coat

Hello!

Today's post is going to be about Seche Vite quick dry top coat. I happen to own this so I can tell you about my experience. It claims to be

  • Long-wearing (not actually true in my opinion- I have peeling issues- and YES I have applied it correclty- still get the peeling on the 3rd day or so)
  • Quick dry (YES that is true! :) )
  • UV protection (non-yellowing) TRUE
  • Chip- and peel-resistant (NO WAY :D Then I must have the wrong seche vite which I strongly doubt in)
  • Self-levelling (TRUE)
  • No streaking or dragging over nail art (TRUE) This means ridges, small polishing gaffes, and shaky application is remedied by the product itself, as it creeps across the surface of the nail and settles evenly, every time.

From the Seche website:

“Seche Viteâ„¢ is unique in its application over wet nail polish. Make sure there is a nice bead at the end of the brush before application over wet nail polish as it must be applied thick, but not too thick.
Apply thickly, get a nice bead on the end of the brush, then set softly down on the first nail painted and watch how Seche Vite flows over the wet nail polish self levels and will not drag or streak the underlying manicure. It takes time to master the application and when perfected it is possible to apply in only three strokes…keep trying. Seche Vite will naturally thicken so make sure to keep the neck of the bottle clean and tight at all times and if it gets stringy add a few drops of Seche Restore and roll the bottle slowly adding additional drops until consistency is fully restored.”

AND: One big downside is that it contains toluene.

From wikipedia: Toluene, formerly known as toluol, is a clear, water-insoluble liquid with the typical smell of paint thinners.Toluene should not be inhaled due to its health effects. Low to moderate levels can cause tiredness, confusion, weakness, drunken-type actions, memory loss, nausea, loss of appetite, and hearing and color vision loss. These symptoms usually disappear when exposure is stopped. Inhaling high levels of toluene in a short time may cause light-headedness, nausea, or sleepiness. It can also cause unconsciousness, and even death.

So I guess that seche vite is good when you want to dry your nailpolish quickly, but you must do it in a well ventilated room! ;) I tried again with OPI and china glaze holographic top coat to make sure that the cause is not my nails and with them my nail polish stayed on better- no peeling issues. Had some chipping on fingers that I use the most (index fingers and right thumb nails). Hahaa.. so that's why it is peeling: Seche Vite may not play nice with the chemicals in some Big 3-Free polishes. (China glaze and OPI does not contain formaldehyde ,dibutyl phthalate (DBP) nor  toluene). So it is not my favorite, but I will use it sometimes when I am in a real hurry. :)

How do use it:
  1. Do your nail design.
  2. Get a decent bead of Seche Vite on the end of the brush
  3. Place the bead in the middle of the first nail you polished WHILE IT IS STILL WET-ish
  4. Use the tip of the brush to drag or comb through the bead, helping the polish spread but not letting the brush bristles touch the nail polish below
  5. Seche Vite will spread across the nail bed and self-level.

Thank You! And I hope you found some new information reading this post! :)

Quick review: NYX round lipsticks

Hello!

So this post is going to be about lipsticks in my makeup collection- I am not really a lipstick person so I only have 6 lipsticks. 5 of them are NYX round lipsticks- I have read some great reviews and watched some YT videos so I decided to try them out.
So the names are:
Circa: a very beige nude lipstick- wrong color for me, too similar to my skintone. Have not worn this out yet. Maybe b52 would have been better.
Tea rose: natural and pretty subtle pink color, really like this one.
Louisiana: bright pink lipstick
Femme: bright red lisptick with orange undertone (in estonian: punakas toon oranži alatooniga. Väga erk!)
Electra: classic red lipstick.
They do not stay on really long, so you have to re-apply them quite often. All the mentioned tones are cream finishes. But I still love them, because they were cheap and NYX cosmetics are cruelty free. :) Altough I am not planning to order any more of these online. Next lipsticks that I would like to try out are Revlon Colorburst.

I have one lipstick by maybelline, it is from their watershine lipsticks, regal mauve no643. I did not buy this myself, but got it as a gift from facebook maybelline estonia fanpage last summer. This is my only shimmer lipstick.

So here is a picture of them :)

Have you tried NYX round lipsticks? What do you think of them?

NOTD: china glaze secret peri-wink-le

Hello!

Today I just wanted to share this nail of the day. Only a week left to color my nails as grazy as possible. I'm really sad that I have to cut them soon. :( They are all really long for me- as I am used to having almost no nails at all :P

Basecoat was OPI Nail Envy, main color is China glaze Secret Peri-wink-le and topcoat is- you have guessed it right- holographic top cota again. Secret periwinkle is nice color on it's own, but I wanted to add a little bit of sparkle. :)

NOTD: Funky Leopard

Hello!

Sorry for not posting for such a long time, but now I have time to make my blog posts again. So today I did a funky leopard print nail art. Leopard print is realtively easy to do and you do not need any special nail artist abilities to achieve this look. :D You do not even need a special nail art brush, a toothpick would do the job also. :)

The color combination is not my own fantasy- I saw a picture once and now I wanted to recreate the look. :) I have done leopard print earlier too, I'll add a picture to the end :) Here is the inspiration picture:

Unfortunately, I could not find whose the author of these cute nails.

Product list:
Base coat: OPI nail envy
Main color: ORLY- Mirror mirror
Pink spots: OPI la-paz-itevely hot (it dos not have to be matte color, I just chose this because it is very opaque :) )
Black is China Glaze ink again- it has a nice detail brush.
Top coat- China Glaze holographic top coat (I also used seche vite fast drying top coat on the main color).

This is the first ever nail art design that I did when I ordered high end nail polishes from transdesign :) Gold is by Opi it is called Bling dynasty.

What do you think of leopard print nails? Have you tried this look on your nails?

NOTD: pink valentine's day hearts

Hello!

Today I slept too long and then about 11 p.m. I got bored and decided to do another nail look for Valentine's day. It is so relaxing to do my nails. I really like the process and how it all comes together in the end. Today's look is really simple so everyone could try this at home. :)

What I used:
any bright pink as a basecolor- I used maybelline ultra violet, because it stays on pretty well and I do not have time next week to do my nails again.
lighter pink sponged on the tips of the nails. I used china glaze's something sweet from their last spring's collection up & away.
Some red glittery nail polish- I used a red from OPI burlesque collection - I have the mini set, so I do not know the name of it, but it is not that important. ;)
Some black nail polish and thin nail art brush to outline the hearts- do not really like how it turned out- I do not have so steady hand.
China glaze holographic top coat to add a little sparkle and life to the design.

I promise I will be posting more after Valentine's day- I have a big exam on 14th February, wish me luck! :D

Do you do antything special to your nails for Valentine's day or is it just a day like any other? Let me know in the comment section below this post. :)
