China Glaze Little drummer boy swatches and surprise

Hey!

So here are my swatches of China glaze little drummer boy and one swatch comparing it to OPI Russian Navy. Little drummer boy was part of China Glaze's last year holiday collection called 'Tis the season to be naught and nice. Probably it was limited edition. Bottle is 15ml as usual, and the price in USA should be a couple of dollars, depending where you buy it.
In the sunshine. :) Just one coat!!!
In the shade, with flash. This "bare" line is reflection from the flash.
VERY quick comparison to OPI Russian Navy.
CG Little drummer boy is on thumb and OPI on pointer.
I literally just put them on to take this picture, that's why I was not particulary careful with application.
They are NOT DUPES, but really similar in my eyes, SO - please continue reading. :D
Both have just one coat, OPI defenitely needs at least one more coat.

I did not name the post giveaway, because I wanted to surprise you :)
Since they are so similar, I am giving away little drummer boy :) I prefer OPI because of small purple glitters in it.
Sorry, this time giveaway is open to Estonian residents only.

Since this is so small giveaway and I don't want to over-complicate things:
1. You have to be my follower using google friend connect - hit follow button on the right sidebar
2. You have to leave a comment down below with your email address
Giveaway is open until 7th October 2011 23.59 Estonian time. CLOSED NOW!

Thank you for reading!

Nimelt, küünelakkide sahtlis seisab kasutult üks kaunis tumesinine China Glaze'i lakk nimega "Little drummer boy". Ehk on kellelgi nüüd vastu talve just tumedamat lakki vaja ja tore oleks see ju endale võita. Tegemist on eelmise aasta jõulukollektsiooni kuuluva lakiga ('Tis the Season To Be Naughty and Nice)

1. olema mu blogi AVALIK jälgija ehk follower (avalik, sest ma ei saa ju muudmoodi kontrollida, kas sa ka tegelikult mind ikka ustavalt loed). Kirjutage see palun ka kommentaari (kuigi see on ka nimena näha). Follow nupu leiate paremalt küljeribalt.
Seekordne loos on avatud ainult Eesti elanikele!

Models own Smash up polishes review and swatches

Hey!
Today I am going to review 6 models own smash up polishes for you. I did not buy them, because I won models own giveaway on their facebook page. If I remember correctly it was when they reached 45,000 likes and I was 1 of 10 runner ups. The announcment was made on their wall on 18th August, but I finally, after several emails got my package on 13th September. Remark: usually packages from UK come to Estonia in a week so I think that eitjer they forgot to post it the first time, because they had crazy 50% OFF sale when they reached 50,000 likes on facebook.
Ok here is the unpacking part.

The package smelled really strongly and I did not suspect anything, until I started to unscrew the top of black smash up - yep, you can see the result. I don't accuse models own, because they used bubble wrap inside the package, postal service can just be rough. I contacted them and they promise to send out replacement, but I have not recieved it yet. UPDATE: I just got my replacement, thank you models own! (5.10.2011)

You can buy them here: http://www.modelsownit.com/nails/smash-up.html At the moment there is offer: when you buy 2 polishes you will get 2 off, that means for 10 £ you will get 2 polishes. Not too expensive. At the moment they have nice offer:
Get a black Kohl pencil absolutely FREE with your first order from Models Own! Simply visit the Kohl pencil page on the Models Own website, add the black pencil and your other Models Own items to your basket and enter KOHLBLACKFREE when you checkout! x http://www.modelsownit.com/eyes/eyeliner-pencils/kohl-eyeliner-pencils.html

Usage: they suggest that you should add very thin layer of smash up polish on completely try base color. I suggest using thick coat - it smashes up better, the cracks are more visible. I did not use models own polishes as base and they still worked fine. You should stick to one coat of smash up.
Swatch wheel -  thin coats of purple, orange, pink. Next 2 pictures are taken in artifical light with flash.

Next 2 swatch pictures are taken in daylight, without flash. Here you can see the names of polishes what I used for base.

Ingredients:  I did not find ingredients for smash up polishes on their page, but by the smell of it and that every other polish in their collection contains toluene, I suspect that smash up polishes are not an exception.
Drying time was reasonable, the cracking was finished completely in 5 minutes. Some of them cracked faster, some of them were slower.
Consistency: Orange and pink were VERY watery, silver & gold are quite thick, purple and black (haha I managed to try it out before throwing it away) had very nice smooth texture.
Finishes: orange, pink, black - creme; purple - small shimmers; gold, silver - metallic, rather matte finish.
Overall: nice smash up/crackle polishes, does not matter how you name them. Black smash up was even better than OPI shatter in my opinion, loved the consistency more - OPI one is quite gloopy and too thick.
Grades:
black, silver, purple - 5/5
gold - 4/5
orange, pink- 3,5/5

Ülevaade models own pragunevatest lakkidest. Võitsin need küünelakid endale kui models own'il täitus facebookis 45,000 fänni. Õnnelik juhus leidis aset juba 18.augustil, kuid kätte sain paki alles 13.septembri hommikul. Tavaliselt tulevad Suurbritanniast pakid Eestisse umbes nädala.
Kasutamine: kanda täiesti kuivale baasvärvile üks kiht smash up lakki (valige midagi kontrastset, näeb efektsem välja).
Kuivavad keskmise kiirusega, täielikult pragunenud on lakk u 5 minutiga.

ELF collective haul

Hey!

Today I recieved packages from ELF, yes it is in plural, that I ordered one of their 50% OFF sales. Most of the products are for other beauties, I just wanted to share the crazyness one my sofa when I unpacked everything and started to sort out things. :D

Thnakfully none of the products were broken or missing, so thank you ELF!

and by elf I mean eyeslipsface.co.uk because their USA site does not ship to Estonia.

Yes, there was so many that it did not fit in one picture :D
I promise this is the last time I do this kind of haul for others because I don't own a car and have to use public transportation to get to the other end of Tartu with my humongous gym bag. :D Not fun to carry so heavy bag.

let me know waht you think of ELF. I have a ton of products I still have to review... just have to get myself together.

Thank you for reading!

Ramble

Hello!

Sorry for the absent blogging, I feel that a TON of new beauty bloggers have emerged during summer and so my posts seem more pointless to me. Maybe I should just blog with my eyes closed and not think about that everybody has already talked/wrote about that topic I am planning to write about. Please let me know what you think. Should I keep blogging or is it time to move on and dedicate more time to my studies. My seminars and practical work start next week with Psychiarty.
I want to post beautiful and accurate photos, but I am in desperate need of new camera and maybe white light box to improve the quality. haha perfectionist, I know but my window sill is too dark and gloomy in the winter.
Second reason is that I don't really use that much makeup and buying tons of it just for swatching - men, I have better to do with my money. Every time I show someone my 2 bags full of makeup they go: do you really use it all? And I must confess that I really don't. I have always said that I don't wear makeup on daily basis and that won't change in the near future.
I am planning a blog sale- must take photos of some more things. Mostly ELF products that really does not work for me, mainly color wise so they are perfectly good maybe for someone else. At the moment I am planning to ship only to Estonia, because ELF is quite widely available worldwide and it would be waste of money if you live in USA where it is 1$ per piece instead of 1,8€ (on the site it says 1,7€, but it depends on currency and as you know this does change a bit in time).

Some quote pics I have found recently and wanted to share with you, my dear readers.
Reminer for myself. :D I have to relax more.
Yep, so true If I would let everything bad, I mean a lot of bad into my mind, than I could not be happy at all.

Small blog with 156 followers is succsess, right?

 Yes, YOU ARE LUCKY!
Yes, I belive in everything and I am proud of it!

Thank you for reading my rambling. Hope it was not too bad!

ELF nail polish in lilac review and swatches

Hey!

Today I will review ELF nail polish in lilac. It costs 1$ in US, 1,5£ in UK and 1,7 € in EU. So it is pretty cheap. As far as ELF nail polishes go, there are hits and misses, and this particular polish is a miss in my opinion.
Concictency is very watery so this is VERY sheer. In the swatch picture I have 3 coats on and there is still visible nail line. First coat was almost nothing on my nails, second coat added a little bit of color. Do get full opacity you will need 4 coats. The color seems to be more lilac in the bottle than it is on nails, it is almost nude, toned down lilac. I think that in so many swatch pictures it seems to be more blue toned than it really is. The polish has creme finish.
ELf nail polish brushes are just regular nail polish brushes, nothing special about them.
Staying power is bad too-  on third day index finger and thumb on my right hand had massive chipping - I used my regular top coat by Poshe.
It made my nails little bit yellow too and I used my regular base coat.
Sorry I did not take this photo just after applying it to my nails, this is taken 2,5 days after painting them. Picture is taken in daylight cloudy weather conditions without flash.

So in conclusion, I would not buy it again. If you like sheer, almost nude nail polishes, you may want to try it out. But in my opinion, very cheap price does not justify bad quality.

Quick face of the day

Hey!

Here is quick face of the day that just took 15 min to do (maybe even less, did not take time).

Products used:
Face: bourjois healthy mix serum in 53, ELF warm bronzer, ELF bronzing & blush duo- used just the blush part.
Eyes: Urban Decay Primer Potion, Naked eyeshadow palette: sin all over the lid part, naked+buck in the crease and hustle to set the liner. Liner is MAC Teddy ( I ordered it from ebay, so most likely it is fake, but it's just basic brown liner that works fine and I did not pay regular MAC price for it, so I don't complain.)
Lips: NYX Beige mega shine lip gloss.

Raising ovarian cancer awareness: Teal Toes for September

Hey!
Actually I found out about this a week ago, so sorry for the delay! I am always up for posting for a good cause so here it is. I really care about spreading this information, because I study medicine and I see too often people who come to the doctors the very last minute. In case of cancer, it is often too late to even help them, but if it is caught early, the probability of curing it is very likely.

Teal Toes
Our mission is to raise awareness of ovarian cancer.
How? By painting your toenails teal, the ovarian cancer color. By getting your friends to paint their toenails teal too, and then by talking with people when they ask about it, to make sure that they know the signs of this whispering killer.
Any time of year is good for teal toes, but we especially recommend September, the ovarian cancer awareness month
For more information, see www.TealToes.org.

I planned to post a picture of my toes too, but did not get a good photo- toes are difficult to photograph! Anyway, since I did not have teal nail polish, I mixed it myself. I used mainly OPI Suzi says Feng shui, a drop of CG Emerald Fitzgerald and a little bit of CG lemon fizz.

Stay healthy and thank you for reading!

In Estonian:
Leidsin just lehekülje, mille eesmärgiks on suurendada teadlikkust munasarjavähist.
Teal ehk sinakasroheline on kuulutatud munasarjavähi värviks. ;)
Keda see kasvaja rohkem huvitab võib ise kasutada ka google´i abi, kuid siin on üks lihtne seletus inimene.ee leheküljelt.

Olge terved!

FOTD using ELF mineral products

Hey!
Today I decided to test ELF mineral products: foundation, concealer, blush, mineral booster, eyeshadows, lip gloss. Here are the results:
Yes, I was brave enough to show you my naked face, a few zits and uneven skin tone, I´m just human you know :D I am wearing only mascara, otherwise my lashes are almost invisible.
Here are face products that I used:
ELF mineral products are the only ones that I´ve ever tested, so I can´t compare them to anything. Foundation is little bit light for me at the moment, but I ordered it in May, when my skin was lighter. Fortunately I did not have time to go to beach and take sunbaths this summer, so my skin remains more youthful.
Foundation has light coverage, but you can build it up to medium if you apply several layers.
Concealer seems to be very light at first, but actually the lightness helps to cover my modest dark circles nicely.
ELF mineral blush in rose is REALLY pigmented, I applied only a little bit and still got quite colorful cheeks.
For eyes I used Socalite all over the lid and a little bit of royal in the crease. For application I used ELf stucio C brush and for blending and crease I used my sigma e25 travel size blending brush. I used these eyeshadows, because I own only 3 of elf mineral eyeshadows and third one is trendy - I don´t like that eyeshadow- applies very sheer and is quite shimmery.
I don´t own any ELF mascaras so I used my favorite Loreal voluminous (I don´t buy several mascaras, because they dry out and that would be just a waste of money, atm I have 3).
For eyeliner I used ELF cream eyeliner in black. Nice creamy eyeliner, it is not the blackes black I´ve ever seen, but it is quite ok. Once it is try, it stays on your lids preatty well.
On my lips I applied ELF mineral Lip gloss in Fierce (again only mineral lip gloss that I own). I ordered this color, because it seemed to be most pigmented one on swatch pictures. Texture is thicker than regular lip glosses and thanks to it, staying power is increased.
I forgot to add brow product to the picture, but I used ELF stuio brow kit in light (just the powdery part, because wax part is too dark for me). ELF please add translucent wax to those kits!

Dark blue smoky eye

Hey!
Lately I´ve been into more darker eyelooks, so I decided to try out one tutorial by Misschievous.
I went grocery shopping wearing this look, I am lucky that only a few people where at the store at the same time - not really daytime appropriate. But my boyfriend was pretty impressed, could not take his eyes off me :P I am defenitely going to wear this one out to some party in the near future. Really liked how the blue made my eyes look more greener.

What I used:
Eyes: MUS eyeprimer
As base for the eyeshadows I used NYX jumbo eyepnecils in Slate and for bluish accent Purple (don´t know where my jumbo pencil in pacific is, otherwise I´ve used that).
120 palette(different blues)
Make up store eyeshadow in Varieté
Sleek oh so special palette: noir, bow
Loreal lineur intense
Lower waterline: NYX slide on eyeliner in Pretty Violet + dark blue eyeshadow from 120 palette.
NYX silver glitter liner
Loreal voluminous carbon black mascara
I tried to apply false eyelashes, but failed totally, so in this pictures you see only my natural lashes+mascara.
I tied to tightline my upper lashline too, but it tickeled too much.. I have to practice it more.
Brows: ELF studio brow kit in light
Face:
I mixed loeral true match and bourjois healthy mix serum (to get best color and coverage)
ELF Blush&bronzer duo
A little bit of MUS Nox eyeshadow on the cheeks
Lips: ELF studio matte lip color in natural and NYX lipgloss in Beige (don´t be fooled by the name, actually it is light pink).

Thank you for reading!

Make up store nail polish Doreen review

Hey!

Sorry for not posting so long, school started and now I don´t have as much time to spare to write my blog.
So now I have had time to test out Make up store nail polish Doreen from their autumn collection called Showgirl. It is nice red shimmery nail polish. Application was nice, as I predicted it needed 2 coats to be opaque. I really don´t mind, because I always apply at least 2 coats because I hate it when nail shows through the nail polish. Just my personal prefenrence I guess. I can´t really tell how quickly it dries on the nail, because as usual I used quick drying top coat over it. If you are wondering what top coat I use now, because I did not like Seche Vite, it is Poshe fast drying top coat.

How well does it wear? Usualy nail polish lasts on my nails is 4-5 days without noticeable chipping. Doreen stayed on my nails just that long, so I can´t complain.
Here it is compared to OPI The show must go on nail polish from OPI´s Burlesque collection. I only have the mini bottle.
All the pictures are taken in daylight.
Did not really got these colors on the photo well, in real life OPI let me entertain you was a lot pinker. Really really close dupe for Doreen is OPI The show must go on - I could not really see any difference. So if makeup store is not available near you and you like the color, then you can buy OPI The show must go on. OPI polishes are 15ml and cost around 10€ in Estonia and make up store nail polish is 8ml and costs 10,95€. Unfortunately I am afraid that Burlesque collection is sold out everywhere...
Overall I like this polish, it was not too hard to remove which can happen to really shimmery or glittery nail polishes.

In Estonian:
Lubasin siin postituses, et räägin lähemalt Make up store´i lakist Doreen, mis kuulub nende sügiskollektsiooni nimega Showgirl. Tegemist on kena punase tooniga, millel sees punane sädelus. Vaadates oma laki kollektsiooni, meenutas Doreen väga OPI lakki nimega The show must go on.

OPI lakid maksavad u 10-11€ ja selle raha eest saab 15ml lakki, make up store´i küünelakid maksavad 10,95€ ja pudelikesse mahub 8ml toodet. Make up store on olemas Tallinnas Pärnu mnt10 ning  Solarises ja Tartus Tasku keskuses.

Autumn 2011 nail polish trends: China glaze Metro

Hey!
Just a small preview of nail polishes to come, actually this one is already available.
Starting with China Glaze:

Urban Decay Naked Palette Review

Hey!
I finallygave in and bought Urban Decay Naked palette- I have been wanting to buy this palette since it came out last summer. How many times have I wanted to buy this from ebay and at the last moment decided, that it is still too expensive. Last drop was when Grete from g-reveals.blogspot.com made a video about this palette (she used word amazing countless times :D :D ). Nothing could stop me then and so I ordered mine for 32£ (about 52$) + shipping from ebay. It was said to be brand new, but looking closer to it, I saw it had been swatched before a little bit, but I didn't care  - I was so happy that I finally could get my hands on this palette.
Anyway, I do know that there are tons of reviews and swatch pictures on the almighty internet, but I could not just NOT make a review about it. My Estonian followers maybe, just maybe have not seen it, so I must spread the disease - unstoppable urge to get this palette. ;)

Text from the back side of this palette:
Our neutrals won't leave you naked. 12 dimensional shades(including 4 exclusive) escalate your "basics" in textures of matte, shimmer, satin and sparkle. Experiment with office-chic, deep smoky or summery bronze looks. Includes our professional quality, cruelty free Good Karma Eyeshadow Brush.
Where to get it?
I wish I did this research beforehand, could've got my palette a little bit cheaper.
Ebay - I recommend UK, because otherwise you'll have to pay extra for customs etc. Here is the search results, cheaper ones on top of the list: urban decay naked palette from ebay
Lookfantastic.com- at the moment they offer free shipping, don't know how long it is going to last. http://www.lookfantastic.com/make-up/eyes/eye-shadows/palettes/urban-decay-the-naked-palette.html
Hqhair- http://www.hqhair.com/urban-decay-naked-palette-multi/10368656.html
Beautybay.com - http://www.beautybay.com/cosmetics/urbandecay/nakedpalette/ 32£ + shipping is 3.5£
In USA this palette is more readily available in Sephoras, Ultas, Urban Decay homepage etc. ;)
What will you get for you money?
12 incredibly soft & pigmented eyeshadows with different finishes. 1,1g each
1 good karma eyeshadow brush (synthetic bristles) (I would've liked the first edition add-on more - dual sided eyeliner pencil in zero&whiskey)
1 original Urban Decay Primer Potion (UDPP) 3,7 ml.
Ingredients (some customers might like to know what they put on their delicate skin in the eye area ;) ) For the full list, please check urban decay's website: http://www.urbandecay.com/naked-palette-eyeshadow/245,default,pd.html It does contain a few parabens and talc.
Package: palette looks very luxorious with it's velvety exterior, but it becomes dirty really easily(keep it away from dirty fingers and pets). Inside you will find a decent size mirror - great on the go for touch ups. Inside is made of cardboard, but it does not look cheap at all. Cardboard is better when you are clumsy- it will absorb the impact when you accidentally drop it- shadows are safe in this package!
Eyeshadows: There are six permanent and existing shades, one repromoted shade, and five new shades. 7 shimmery, 3 glitters, 2 matte.
Very soft and silky, great pigmentation for most of them.
My 2 least favorites are creep- glitter, not very great color payoff.
Most silky: toasted, half baked.
Brush: has synthetic bristles, is pretty stiff, but does not scratch the eye. Just a basic eyeshadow brush in my opinion. I would have liked double ended eyeliner pencil more- have not tried their glide on eyeliners yet.
Primer potion: mini size, works nicely. (but I must say that my ELF primers work aswell).

What do you think of Urban Decay Naked palette? Is it worth the hype? Would you buy it?

Thank you for reading!
