FOTD: Adele inspired look

Hey!
One friend of mine said once that I look exactly like Adele, I dare to doubt that, but still I wanted to do a makeup look inspired by her.

She does not wear crazy makeup, usually her trademarks are flawless skin, cat eyeliner and nude lips. She rarely wears a ton of blush. On the inspirational picture she wears false eyelashes too, but since I can´t do it, I decided that an extra coat of mascara is enough.

Complexion:

  • foundation: loreal true match c2 (really good coverage)
  • under eye concealer: garnier tinted eyeroll
  • blush: ELF Coral blush
  • highlighter: the Balm Mary Lou Manizer (I applied it lightly with a fan brush)

Close up of the details. Eye picture is actually taken 9 hours (!) later - urban decay primer potion and naked palette (I think I used virgin as highlight, sidecar all over the lid and darkhorse in the crease + outer-v) really stay on! I used NYX iced mocha eyeshadow too, because I wanted colder brown tone. In real life my eyeshadows were a bit darker.
Eyeliner is loreal lineur intense - stays on, if you don´t rub your eyes very hard.
For lips I used:
  • lip pencil by make up store: fairytale dream (from their winter 2011/2012 pure collection)
  • lipstick by ELF: mineral lipstick in Runway pink
  • lipgloss: NYX round lipgloss in whipped

I love this look and I will definitely going to wear it regularly.
Little offtopic, but I am going to do a giveaway soon, international this time, because my blog will be 1-year old soon. ;)

Thank you for reading!

In Estonian:

Urban Decay naked vs NYX Nude on Nude

Hey!
Today I am going to compare Naked palette by urban decay and NYX Nude on Nude natural look kit. Both are good neutral palettes for every day use. Naked is the holy grail in beauty world, so does NYX have anything  to give against it. NYX Nude on Nude is bought from ebay, at least a year ago, I remember taking a picture when I got it, but unfortunately I could not find it, so you will see dirty used palette- sorry about that.

Size comparison: NYX is tiny, good handbag siz or great for travel. Also I kind of hate Naked palette velvet  exterior and the sticker on the back side is ugly.
Urban Decay palette comes with 12 full sized eyeshadows, a brush and a mirror + mini size primer potion. Price is around 50$.
Nude on nude palette had 9 eyeshadows, 2 lipcolors(you can slide them out beneath the eyeshadows), a mirror and 2 applicators (one was lip brush!). Mine cost me 13$ with shipping.
So as you can see they are not definitely dupes, there are some similar shades, but some are very different. Urban Decay palette has a bit better pigmentation and the shadows feel silky and buttery. NYX has decent pigmentation and the shadows feel nice. I like that the NYX palette comes with matte highlighter (haah, you can see how much I love it above). But Naked palette does come with a black eyeshadow. So I feel that naked palette gives more variety of colors, therefore you can create more versatile looks with it.
NYX  eyeshadows seem more warm toned to me.

BONUS: I chose the most similar shades and applied the same way -  without any primer, with fingers.  Colors used are makrked with numbers for NYX and names for Urban Decay.

So in conclusion both are good palettes and if you are on a budget, NYX nude on nude palette is good option.

Thank you for reading!

In Estonian:
Täna näete siis kaua aega tagasi lubatud NYX nude on nude paleti ja Urban decay naked paleti võrdlust. Mõlemad on head igapäevased paletid neutraalsete värvidega, kuid kindlasti ei ole nad täpselt samad ehk dupe´id (ilumaailma keeles odavam asendus enamasti). Mõlemal on hea pigment, kuid tekstuuris tuleb suur vahe. :D )
Silmapildil üritasin kasutada kõige sarnasemaid toone, ilma igasuguse aluseta(primerita), värvid kandsin peale näpuga- lihtsalt, et näidata, et ka see on võimalik, kuigi pintsliga on kordades mugavam ja hügieenilisem.

NOTD: accidental barbie

Hey!

Today I wanted to share with you NOTD which I did a few days ago. Why is it called accidental barbie? Because I started out with China glaze polish in Nude and then wanted something more. I decided to use OPI I lily love you and since it does not have a clear base, but a pink one my nude nails turned into barbie pink nails. Since it looked kind of plain, I wanted to add pink french style tips and used China Glaze nail polish in Strawberry fields for that purpose.
Result is very cute and girly, but not really me, but for once in a while I can wear barbie nails too, right? :)

In Estonian:
Miks on asja nimi kogemata barbie küüned? haah, sest ma alustasin ju täiesti nude toonis lakiga ja kuna mu käed jälle liiga mannekeenilikud(kas selline sõna on üldse olemas?) välja nägid, siis otsustasin lisada peale OPI I Lily love you laki.
Mida kasutasin:
China glaze nude
OPI I lily love you

China glaze strawberry fields
ja tavalist pealis ja aluslakki.
Tulemus pole päris selline, mida eelistaksin kanda, aga vahelduseks on päris kenad. See on üsna tavaline, et ma lasen fantaasial end kanda ja lisan järjest lakke. :D

28 neutral palette review & swatches

Hey!

Today I am going to review 28 neutral palette from no name company. I have read mixed reviews about it so I wanted to clear things out and try it myself.

Palette itself is pretty decent in size- dimensions are 23x15 cm (9"x6"). It does not tell on the box how many grams of eyeshadows are you getting. I don't have any MAC shadows to compare them, but as far as I've read, they seem to be a little bit bigger - pot diameter is 2,5 cm/1 inch.

Where to get it?

By far the cheapest place is ebay, I got mine for 8.64$, including shipping (which took FOREVER).

Here is ebay search, shipping to Estonia: 28 neutral palette from ebay
But if you live in the US and don't want to wait for so long, you can get it from:
BH cosmetics: sale price is 13.26$
Coastal scents: 18.95$ (that is more than twice the price!)

I don't know if there is some quality difference also between different sellers, but from the look of it the colors seem same to me.

Ingredients: Talc, Mica, Mineral Oil, Kaolin, Titanium Dioxide, Magnesium Stearate, Isopropyl Palmitate, Lanolin Methylparaben, Propylparaben, BHT.
Swatches: all photos are taken in daylight, without flash. I have written my comments on the photos, seemed easier to understand than nameing the numbers... Which is which- numbers on the photo above. SOme of them were easy to swatch, but for most I really had to rub my finger in to get some color payoff. I did not use any primer underneath, but I also tried out them with primer and no improvement unfortunately.

Pros:

Really cheap

Great color variety: lights, darks, medium colors.
Different finishes: from matte to shimmery, some shadows contain glitter.
Great for creating subtle day makeup, appropriate for office.

Cons:

Not so great pigmentation

Lasting power is bad
Shadows are chalky and quite hard
Too many similar light shades and even dark shades seem to be very much alike on the lid.
This palette does not come with a mirror nor eyeshadow applicators (but I won't use them anyway, so I don't miss them).
I would give it maybe 3 out of 5.

In conclusion:

You defenitely get what you pay for, this is not the greatest palette, but since it was dirt cheap I forgive it somewhat. One thing is for sure, I won't be repurchasing it ever. There are better neutral palettes out there. Even if you are a beginner it would be better to get few quality shades rather a whole bunch of so-so eyeshadows. Since neutrals are so versatile and you will be using them more, invest in better eyeshadows.

BONUS
EOTD using 28 neutral palette.

7 all over the lid, 4 inner corner + brow highlight, 19 crease, 25 outer V+ blended into crease+ as eyeliner. I used same colors as allthatglitters21 in her video on BHcosmetics website.
Regular Loreal Voluminous mascara.
Brows are filled in with 20 (too red brown for my ashy brows).
I did use eyeprimer underneath these shadows.

In Estonian:
Mõõtmed on 23x15cm.
Kindlasti on turul paremaid neutraalsete toonidega paletti (siinkohal kiidusõnad nt NYXile, caviar&bubbles on hea!). No miks te võrdlete nii erinevaid asju, inimesed.

The Body Shop Rainforest Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner Review

Hey!

As you may have guessed from this post, I really do care about nature and my health and have started to search more alternatives for regular products. So in the middle of September during The Body shop client days I bought moisturizing shampoo & conditioner from Rainforest line. This line is meant for dry and damaged hair.

Bottles are 250ml (8.4 fl oz). Sorry, I can´t rember the price at them moment. I think they might be between 10-15 euros per bottle.
Shampoo is so liquidy that it already wanted to escape :D
About a month I REALLY loved these products, but now my hair get greasy too quickly and ends are still dry. Why did I love them before- they really brought my dull hair alive- hair were shiny and seemed to be thicker. I have really fine hair that seems to be dry also, at least in the ends. I am so sad that I can't grow long healthy hair, because my hair tend to split at the ends. I have not colored them 1,5 years and rarely I use blowdryer (I just purchased my first one, only use it when I am in a hurry in the winter). Only mistake that comes to my mind is wrong hair brush.
One thing that I still love is the smell of these products. Even without reading the ingredients on the bottle I knew that shampoo contains real HONEY. mm... yum, but don't eat these, because altough they are free of parabens, silicones and sulphates they still contain ingredients that are not safe to eat.

Ingredients:

Shampoo: Aqua, Sucrose, Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Lauryl Betaine, Laureth-5 Carboxylic Acid, Mel, PEG-55 Propylene Glycol Oleate, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Chloride, Glycerin, Parfum, Polyglyceryl-4 Caprate, Sodium Benzoate, Sucrose Laurate, Isopropyl Alcohol, Polyquaternium-6, Salicylic Acid, Citric Acid, Schinziophyton Rautanenii Kernel Oil, Pentaclethra Macroloba Seed Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Tocopherol.

Conditioner: Aqua, Cetearyl Alcohol, Distearoylethyl Hydroxyethylmonium Methosulfate, Cocos Nucifera Oil, Orbignya Oleifera Seed Oil, Citric Acid, Cetyl Esters, Sodium Benzoate, Parfum, Hydroxypropyl Guar, Schinziophyton Rautanenii Kernel Oil, Salicylic Acid, Mel, Pentaclethra Macroloba Seed Oil, Tocopherol.
So if you are allergic to salicylic acid (aspirin), then you should skip this product.
Shampoo lathers up just okay, last times that I have used it I had to use the shampoo twice. After washing my hair feels squeky clean.
Conditioner is defenitely more hydrating than Down under naturals nude conditoners (I have tried the volume line and the moisture line). But it still does not moisturize enough and I don't have damaged hair.
In conclusion: They are just okay products, nothing too special in my opinion. They do moisturize, but not a whole lot, so I would skip these if your hair are really dry. I sincerely belive that there are better products to bring back moisture into your hair.
At the moment I have found a combination that works for me: The body shop rainforest moisture shampoo + Joico intense hydrator mask as conditioner (I use the last one every other time that I wash my hair. )

In Estonian:

Täpseid koostisosasid lugege ülevalt ingredients'i alt, kui huvi on.

Šampoon vahutab veidi vähem kui Down Under Naturals Nude sarja kohevust andev šampoon, kuid üldiselt sain siiani ühekordse šampoonitamisega hakkama.

ELF mineral blushes review & swatches

Hey!
Today I am going to review 3 mineral blushes from ELF. These blushes are described as having "no parabens, no preservatives and no chemical dyes."

Ingredients from website:
Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Boron Nitride, Caprylyl Glycol, Tocopheryl Acetate.  May Contain: Bismuth Oxychloride (CI 77163),  Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI77499), Maganese Violet (CI77742), Ultramarines (CI77707).

Where to buy them & price:
eyeslipsface.co.uk if you live in Europe, price is £ 3.5 or 4€.
eyeslipsface.com if you live in US or Canada 5$ also look in drugstores.
But keep your eyes open for duscount codes or free shipping offers, then you can get them cheaper! :) I have not ordered ANY ELF products for their full price.

Package is sleek and classy, but you have to be careful with the plastic that´s over the holes - don´t peel it off completely, otherwise too much product comes out. I made that mistake. Instead- peel of just half of it or take a needle and poke some holes in the plastic. Package contains 3,5 grams of product.

Swatches on my arm: on the left is just rough swatch, on the right is blended out, more subtle swatch. Picture is taken in daylight, without flash.

Coral: Is my favorite from the bunch. Since it is so sublte you don´t have to be very careful with application. The tone is very light peach and I have heard that it shoes up only on very light skintones, so bare that in mind if you have more color to your skin. I also like that it is completely matte, so you have the control of how much shimmer you want to add with other products. Coral is the easiest of these three to blend and work with.

This picture is taken in daylight without flash.

Rose: mauvey darker pink, really pigmented so be careful with application if you are not going for clown look.

Picture is taken in artifical light with flash.
Peachy: more terracota color than a peach in my opinion (quite orange toned in real life). Has not actually shimmer, but glitter particles. Fortunately these don´t transfer to skin much- I would hate chunky glitter on my cheeks. For picture purposes I defenitely over applied it, but it was not the easiest to blend out. This blush is not keeper for me, so if you want it - I have used it only once in this picture to show you and swatched it 2 times, then let me know. I did not want to keep it from the start, so I kept the protective plastic in place. (I will ship this only to Estonia, 2,5 eurot + post!)

Picture is taken in artifical light with flash.

So in conclusion: if you like mineral blushes in loose form, go for it - they have nice pigmentation and are quite cheap. You have to be careful with application and spend some more time blending, but that is small price to pay. Defenitely before ordering them look for swatches- pictures on ELF website could not be more miseleading.

Thank you for reading!

In Estonian:

ELF nail polish in Innocent & NOTD

Hey!

Some time ago I tested ELF Innocent nail polish on my nails.  Since the tone of this polish is really close to my skin tone and I don't like the look of mannequin hands I decided to add some pink to the combo.
I used the sponging tehnique and first applied matte pink nail polish(OPI Dim Sum Plum) and then added OPI I lily love you glitter/flaky polish in the same area.
Sorry for the bad pictures, It was really dark and I had to use flash. And also I have to apologize for the messy application, I have been more careful with it recently, but these pictures are about 2 months old, did not have time to post them earlier.

Coverage was so-so, if I remember correctly I used 3 coats of Innocent nail polish and you can still see the white part. I like my polish to be opaque. But for £ 1.5 (or 1,7€, it is even cheaper in US: 1$) it did a pretty good job. If you like ELF products and live in Europe (except Italy) then you can buy them from eyeslipsface.co.uk. They often have different promotions, codes, free shipping so defenitely wait for it, before ordering! :)

Roosale osale kandsin veel OPI I lily love you glitterlaki.
Viimaste küünelaki arvustuste tarvis olen juba tunduvalt hoolikam olnud ju muidu.

Beauty Bloggers are Bizarre TAG

Hey!

So Lily from Beautys Bad Habit blog posted a list of weird habits that most beauty bloggers do. You can find her post here: http://beautysbadhabitblog.blogspot.com/2011/11/beauty-bloggers-are-bizarre.html
One of Estonian beauty bloggers turned it into a TAG, you are supposed to read the original post and then write down points that you really happen to do as a beauty blogger.

So I am guilty of:
1. We buy stuff just to blog.
Since I really don´t wear much makeup daily, I don´t really need another eyeshadow- eyeshadows are my guilty pleasure. Another thing are nail polishes, I can´t wear them daily because I study medicine and it is not sanitary nor ethical to paint your nails.
I think that in last year I have wasted more money on cosmetics and nail polishes than on clothes. I hate shopping for clothes and therefore I don´t post any OFTD, because my wardrobe is very limited.
Here is just an old photo of my nailpolish drawer, at the moment there are even more polishes.  I had to remove tha metal box.

3. Time management? What is that?
Actually I never exactly plan how much I will dedicate to writing my blog, but I defenitely take time for blogging out of my time meant for studying. At the moment I should read about psychiatric medications- I got exam tomorrow, but writing this TAG is so much more fun. :D

4. We don't need sleep.
Yeah, I have written a post in the night.

5. We obsess over light.
Since one of my favorite things is swatching I really want to catch the precious daylight that we have less and less during this time of the year. Must get myself a lightbox or however it is called to not be so dependent on natural light. Sometimes I have not swatched something because it is too cloudy and dark.

7. We know things we shouldn't know.
Guilty, sometimes it is hard to understand why people who work at beauty stores even work there if they don´t know anything about their products. Is just being pretty enough? Aother thing that disturbs me is that often selling ladies now only about their own company, but I like comparisons WHY I really should choose their products. Lines like we just are the best are not really convincing me anymore.

9. We get excited over silly things.
For regular people beauty products are just another thing that you buy from time to time, but sometimes I get overly excited when I hear that some collection is released. (right now I am thinking about OPI muppets collection - hell I have not seen The Sesame street and I am still obsessed.)

11. We think how we write.
When swatching/applying makeup I tend to think how to describe it, what are the right words. I have been blogging about 10 months now, so I am quite new to the industry.

12. It might stain, but I'm swatching it anyway.
Yep done it, if it really stains you can always pull your shirt sleeve over it, right? But yes, sometimes I go to a beauty store just to swatch something new.

15. We are hoarders.
I should just insert a picture of my makeup collection here and that explains it all.  Since I don´t have a vanity table and keep my makeup in couple of train case bags I´ll skip the photos at the moment.

16. Nothing is useable until photographed.
I don´t do it every single time, but recently you may have seen more virgin products on my photos.

17. We have a folder of photos of...ourselves.
In the past I defenitely had more photograps f toher people too, but not now. Now I am the queen of my photos. :D You just have to take 100 photos of the same look, maybe with tiny differences that only you notice.

18. We're weird and proud. Admit it - you've just been nodding and chuckling to yourself the whole way through this post!
Yes, I have! And I am truly happy that I am not he only one :D

I would like to hear answers from Grete: G-reveals, Kätlin: k2tlinvaarend, Liina: http://missliina.blogspot.com/ and Margit: www.mmmargit.blogspot.com
I just have to mention for the future, that today I hit the 50000 views line :D

Thank you for reading and I hope you find this new TAG interesting! :D

Wet´n´wild trio in sweet as candy: review + FOTD

Hey!
I was asked to use this palette first, so I predicted your wishes and I already used it for FOTD (actually I was home alone and bored :D ). It was late night, so no FOTD pictures in daylight.
I purchased this palette from Seppälä, they had a sale, and it cost 3€, but I got it for free, because they had buy 1 get 1 free promotion at the same time.
This palette contains 3,5 grams of eyeshadows and you get 2 extremly pointless brushes too. I don´t ever use  applicators that come with palettes, so I can´t tell you if they are good or not, I guess that they do their job.
Daylight: bottom row is with ELF mineral eyeshadow primer.
Daylight + flash
As you can see: all the shadows are nicely pigmented and quite shimmery - so if you have older skin, then you might not like it. Shimmer really brings out wrinkles. Least pigmeted one was browbone color. I quite like this palette, nothing to complain about. Texture is silky and smooth.
Quick FOTD, really approriate for brides in my opinion. Looking fresh & natural & cute. :)
What I used:
Loreal true match foundation in rose vanilla C2.
ELF studio compact powder in caramel for countouring (yes, face powders are matte and if you get one 2-3 shades darker then you can use it for countouring too ;) )
NYX cream blush in natural + elf brightening blush in shy(to set the cream blush).
A little bit of ELF shimmering facial whip in lilac petal (supposed to be dupe for Benefit Moonbeam highlighter).
Then a little bit of ELF HD powder, STILL have not figured out the right amount and therefore my nose looks white.
Lips: started out with ELF lip lock pencil, then used studio matte lip color in coral and topped it off with ELF lucious liquid lipcolor in Perfect pink - looked too pale. Then added NYX lip gloss in Golden Red on top to make lip color warmer. I think that for wedding you should go with more natural colors, because if it fades out, then it won´t be so noticeable.
Brows: NYX ashy brown eyeshadow from nude on nude palette (9-color version) + ELF wet gloss brow & lash mascara.

I started with Make up Store eyeshadow primer. Then added NYX jumbo pencil in Milk on the inner half of my eyelid and Iced mocha on the outer part + blended it in the crease. I blend those with my clean fingers.
Then I used Sweet as candy trio (browbone in inner corner, lid in the middle and crease outer corner + crease) and browbone higlight+ blending color from vanity palette (matte white, matte light brown). Eyeliner is just black kohl pencil (fake MAC smolder). Regular mascara: loreal voluminous.

My first wet´n ´wild eyeshadows, quick haul!

Hey!

I wanted to let you know that I have 3 new eyeshadow palettes in my collection now. Only place that you can buy wet´n´wild in Estonia is Seppälä, which is actually clothing store. They had a small sale on wet ´n ´wild products, plus there was buy 1 get 1 free deal also. I bought them just yesterday, so there may be some left if you are interested. There were nail polishes and lipliner too and some other palettes.

So what did I buy:
1. On the left: Comfort zone 8 pan color icon palette - it was realesed in US last winter. Talk about delay! Price was 7,95€ (around 11$). If you are interested I saw petal pusher palette too(pinks and lilacs), but did not see blue had me at hello in Tartu Lõunakeskus.
2. In the middle:  Vanity palette: 6 neutral colors for everyday wear. Price 4€ (have not even opened it yet!)
3. On the right: Sweet as candy trio. Price on the label said 3€, but since this was the 2nd item, I got it for free- yay! :) Another everyday palette, if you want to be cute or smth.

I have not used them on my eyes yet, so I can´t review them at the moment, but I defenitely will.
