Review: Makeup Geek Eyeshadows Starter Kit

Hey, beauties!

Today I wanted to show you Makeup Geek eyeshadows that have gotten a lot of attention since their release. I ordered my set back in the end of April, when makeupgeek had their 20% off sale, because Marlena got back from France.
I chose the starter kit because one beauty girl can never have too many neutrals, plus this set contained 2 purple shades too.

Here are shade descriptions from their homepage: (all names are clickable)

Colors Included In This Starter Kit

Cocoa Bear –  Matte golden brown

Mocha – Matte Warm medium brown
Glamorous – Bronzy, shimmery gold
Purely Naked – Soft shimmery nude
Shimma Shimma – Shimmery highlight

Purple Rain – Deep but subtle matte purple

Unexpected – Light and subtle pink matte purple blend

Corrupt – Intense matte black with small bit of sparkle

This kit is for the eyeshadow pans only -- they do not come in compacts or a palette. I had one empty UNI palette waiting to be filled, so this option was perfect for me.

Cute package + they have names under the pan!

My opinion:
My favorite shade from the punch is Shimma Shimma, gorgeous, buttery highlight, but you can use it all over the lid too - for that classic pinup look, add a bit of purley naked in the crease and mocha in the outer V. Finish off with a black winged eyeliner and mascara.
I am sorry to say that I hate Purple rain and Unexpected- they are not that pigmented at all and feel kind of hard - so no great matte eyeshadows here. Corrupt is super pigmented matte black, it has a little bit of fallout and it doesn´t feel buttery, so I am not a fan of the texture. Cocoa Bear is so warm brown that I find this difficult to use in looks. I have UD Naked palette and there are no dupes in this set- so I defenitely need both sets in my life :P Glamorous is more bronze than gold. Closest color to UD shadows is Shimma shimma, which might replace Virgin.
In daylight, on bare skin.

Have you tried Makeup geek eyeshadows? What do you think of them?

Thank you for reading!

In Estonian:
Hei, kaunitarid!
Lisasin sinna juurde paar Make up store'i ja MACi lauvärvi.
Nimelt on shimma shimma väga sarnane Virginiga.
Üks värv, millele on mul keeruline rakendust leida on Cocoa bear- niivõrd sooja pruuni kõrvale sobivaid toone leida... Igapäevaselt ju kollast-oranži lauvärvi ei kasuta.
Olete te MUG lauvärve proovinud? Mida te neist arvate?
Aitäh, et lugesite!

  2. Thanks for your honest review. They are very nice colors and I think, besides the couple that are not high-performers, would make a good palette.
